Shares with a $ are hidden from view.

Suggestion for first question (3-4minute bootup time): Do you have a network card in the PC? If so check it has an IP address set manually. Win2k may be trying to get an IP address from DHCP (set by default), this can take some time before it gives up.
Suggestion for question 2: In the Bios of...

When you get the STOP error, do you also get the file name which is causing the error?
The STOP error is caused be a file version mismatch, the version of driver you downloaded is for Win2k, not XP?!?

Are you using DHCP to assign the IP Addresses?
Its just a thought but, maybe the leases are being renewed at that time and there is a duplicate IP address issue for a while until the DHCP gets its sh*t togeather.
Have you tried giving the 3 boxes fixed IP Addresses etc?

Check to see what screen saver you are using.
If you are using the Logon Screen Saver with password protect the only users who can log back in are the actual user who was on the screen before the screen saver came on and the Admin. New Zealand, a great place to live.

Use the Recovery Console to rename the DLL.
I would copy the replacement USERENV.DLL from your CD onto the C drive in Win2k.
Then boot off the Win2k CD and take the R (Repair) option and go into the Recovery Console (Win2k version of DOS) and then rename and copy the DLL.

It does sound like a SID problem.
Try creating a new user (lets call it FRED) and give FRED the standard user rights. Get a user to log on as FRED for a test. Delete the users current name (the fiddlers user name could be a good one) then rename FRED to the users name.
The renamed user should...
