It is possible. If your 2 routers have a bridging feature or at least some wired ports free you can do this. 1 router would connect to the internet. The other connects to the router and simply extends the network.

Sounds like your DHCP server is only handing out 1 address. This is sometimes used as a band-aid when WEP or WPA is too much of a hassel to use for security.

How did you connect the switches? Are the ports on both switches auto sensing mdi/mdx?

Pretty much any new router can do this with mac filtering. You can't tell whos paying and who's not but you can block people or let them through.

Is it a wireless only router? If you also have wired ports try to plug an ethernet wire into it, that should work. Then at least you can take your time figuring out the wireless.

Should probaly try to read a little more into the GFI product. Its IMO the best out there. We have absolutely no problems with it, and don't have the problems that you have.

It'll take awhile after you turn off xp firewall if thats the problem. Leave it off for a day and see what happens.

There are third party apps to do this but his sounds like someone trying to run a prank more than a real problem to me.

Sounds like an app problem. Maybe your app is trying to "phone home". Turn off your firewall if you got one and see what happens.

I would think once the screen goes blank its ok to turn it off. Why did you upgrade anyway? I can't imagine it being anywhere in the neighborhood of speed you had with windows 98.
