parkerbrown: No need to upgrade hardware. That was not the issue. It was a problem with AI10 that was not a problem once I loaded up AI CS2. I'm running on an IBM T41 with 1Gb RAM.- cwgcwg

Better performance for files with lots of vector points??
What version are you using. I went from AI 10 to CS2 this week because I was having trouble with AI locking up with files that had a large number of vector graphics lines (arount 60,000). I could not rescale, I could not rotate. AI just locked up. I upgraded to CS2 and it performs fine on these...- cwgcwg
