Hi,
I am just using the stock sendmail that comes with Solaris 8. It works to deliver mail without problem. The issue is whether or not NBU can send notifications of successful backups. I do get emails when a backup fails, or results in partial success, but it would be nice to get confirmation...
Hi,
Is there a way to get NetBackup DataCenter 4.5 to send an email notification on successful backup? The manual implies that this happens, but I do not get any such notices. I have set both the Administrator and Client administrator email addresses. Only on failure or partial success (status...
Hi,
My full backups are terminating with an exit status of 130, system error occurred. I am running the server (NBU 4.5 MP9) on Solaris 8 using a Fibre Channel attached Exabyte 221 LTO3 library. A couple of days into the backup, I get the message in email. The logs are of little help other...
My aim is to be able to do ad hoc backups without setting up a specific policy. From a client, a user can pick and choose which files to back up irrespective of any policy, so if the server policy is set to back up c:\Documents and Settings, the user can choose to back up specific files in...
Don't use smbpasswd. Instead, use the smbldap tools from padl.com. These will populate your LDAP directory with entries containing the correct attributes. If the account already exists in the directory in the correct container, simply add the appropriate attributes for Samba interaction. It...
In response to the latest posts:
The Destination tab is used to select the client to which you wish to restore the files, you do not have to restore files to the same machine from which they came.
I am using Solaris 8 for the NBU server machine, and Solaris 9 (sparc) or Solaris 10 (x86) for...
Thank you for the feedback. I log onto NBU as root, so have permissions to see everything. My /opt/openv/java/auth.conf file looks like:
root ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL
* ADMIN=JBP JBP=ENDUSER+BU+ARC
which I interpret to mean that root can see everything. Moreover, I do have clients defined in...
The GUI for my NetBackup 4.5 MP 5 installation (on Solaris 8) does not permit me to select clients to backup. Under "Backup, Archive, and Restore" I select the Backup Files tab. The Specify NetBackup Machines dialog appears, but the Source client/Policy type and Destination client tabs are...
This may be obvious, but its bitten me once or twice. Are your tapes write-protected? I've gotten an error 96 in this instance, and the GUI happily showed the write-protected tapes as available. Much confusion ensued. A manual check of the tapes showed the problem, which can occur if you...
Hi,
I am trying to get around the failure of NBU to back up my OS X.3.4 server by mounting volumes from the xserve to a solaris machine which NBU does back up. This works from one of my NBU servers (4.5GA on Solaris 8), but Follow NFS is grayed out on another NBU server running 4.5 MP6...
Hi,
I am getting a status 11 when trying to back up an Xserve running OS 10.3.4 Server. The backup appears to go to completion, but then fails with a "system call failed (11)" message. This appears to be related to the db_FLISTsend call. I have upgraded the server and client to NBU 4.5 MP7...
The <Directory> directive takes a parameter that is relative to the root of your file system. What you probably want is more along the lines of:
<Directory "/var/www/htdocs">
. . .
</Directory>
where /var/www is whatever --prefix was set to during configuration.

Hi All,
I've got LDAP users served from my LDAP server, and home directories on the web server (a separate machine). The uid on the user's home directory matches that in the LDAP database, as does the gid. The problem is that I am getting 403 forbidden messages when trying to get to...
