Please ignore my question. I plugged in a linux machine, the files are free to be moved again. I can not tell you how much i loath PC when comes to file management. it is confusing as hell and takes all the freedom away. A big mess.

when try to install APACHE on xp at work, one of the steps says "can not create folder APPLICATION DATA" under DOCUMENT SETTING", even though the folder is already there? I did not have this problem with other versions of windows operation system. Thanks
when I type char in places where I am not supposed to on a x-client terminal, the beep sound is always there. It has nothing to do with windows sound control.

two options I can think of:
1) use character string, can be sorted and compared in size, but no math operation.
2) use one date variable (in julian format) and one time variable, which would still allow you to math on them. It is a bit twisted when the timestamp of the second date is earlier...
