you can try downloading network supervisor from 3com.
or search for the freeware ping sweep programs many will do that.
one thing that is nice is it enumerates wheter it's a printer, router, workstation etc... but putting it into a list format I don't remember if it does but better than...
I'll relate something that happens on the pix
the pix has a statement dns fixup maximum-length 512 that messess up when going to some places especially the big boys. In another newgroup I read that had something to do with akamai sending udp dns back that was a large as 4096 which the pix did...
I had this happen at a customers site it was because the guy who originally set the system up had done so with a diffrent ip subnet than what was currently being used.
and when I looked at the reverse dns zone, it was for the old subnet. I deleted the zone and redid with the corret ip subnet...
have an HP d220mt desktop with integrated intel graphics, not sure what video adapters to avoid or try to get to sucessfully run dual monitors.

you mean inexpensive routers like a linksys or a d-link and some of those even have limitations on the subnet which make them only able to service a certain number of clients.
192.168.x.x is fine or the class b or the class a 10.x.x.x for that matter a real router will handle them all...

how many (tenants) vlans do you need.?
PIX 6.3 now supports up to 8 or 10 vlans for the pix but that's probably not enough.
I'd think you could turn the 6506 into a vlan routing machine but you may have to purchase a RSM if you don't already have I'm not sure I'd try the cisco switches forum...
what type of router and servers do you have?
Here's an idea that I have implemented in a few places, there could be caveats though... but consider.
using a private net like winoto suggests and creating a dual-mode (only temporarily) on 2 ip networks network. like so....
172.16.x.x 255.255.0.0...
