we have an issue with one of our proliant 380's. Ever since our data room over heated, one of our servers randomly freezes for about a minute or two. Any ideas? Running Win 2003 SE

OK, I haven't loaded Win 98 for at least 5 years so I may be rusty. I get this pc to load. It just freezes while copying files or formating. New motherboard and hd. tried swapping out the memory sticks and still it will go and all of a sudden it just freezes. could it be a bad cable?>...

Thanks for the responses, but I have tried everything you have suggested, with the exception of disconnecting the hard drive. The machine won't even go to the floppy for a start up diskette. I am wondering if the floppy is the problem since it just sits there with the light on but it doesn't...

I lent out a pc and when i got it back it won't boot up. the bios sees all the drives and assigns the irqs then it stops. Am I correct to suspect the cpu>?

Thats what I thought at first, but I downloaded 2 other diferent rar files and it did the same. I did download just 1 rar file from a large group and it worked. Winrar extracted the 1 file and was asking for the rest of the group. Also, WinAce is doing the same thing. I think I will have to...

did the memory test. passed ... no errors. so that's not the problem. thanks for the input

Oh, I forgot to mention that it happens when I try to extract a .rar file. This also happens when I use Winace to extract a file. TIA Craig

All of a sudden, everytime I try to extract a .rar file, my system freezes. My os is winxp and I have a dual Zeon 2.4 processor system with 1.5 gig of memmory and almost a Tb of space.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think this is the issue. I re-imaged the c drive with a bkup image to xp sp1. So sp2 is not on the new image. I am suspecting the powersupply. What do you think. This pc is only 2.5 yrs old and it has dual xeon p4 processors.

we have a couple of workstations with W2k that the "default user" was deleted by someone unknown. Could we just create another user and name it "default user" or do we need to do something else. TIA Craig
