Hey guys, I have sendmail running on one machine. I still need to work to get it configured the way I want, but that's another issue. My problem is that I have a development box and I'm trying to run sendmail on that machine as well. In both cases, I'm just sending mail. Also, they're both RH...
Hi guys
From what I understand, if you want to retrieve mail from a mail server you connect to a pop3 server. If you want to send mail, you connect to an smtp server. My boss has this pop3 software and wants to be able to connect to our exchange server. With this is a username and password. For...
Hi guys. I have rh 9.0 and am running apache 1.3.27. I want to force all connections to my webserver to be https and read that mod_rewrite works well in this instance. After messing with my httpd.conf file, I finally got my webserver to recognize my .httaccess file (before it was just ignoring...
...which took me awhile to get working. In any event, it now works. However, it doesn't quite do what I want. Before, mail was being sent out as
user [user@machine.hostname.net]
Now, with my generics table feature, I'm getting
user [differentuser@someotherdomain.com]
What I'd prefer is...
Yeah, I probably won't be able to take the route of moving exchange to another server. Right now, we have it on a dell server (not necessary for 20 people, but some consulting firm convinced my boss before I worked there that it was needed). Basically, my boss would feel like crap seeing the...
No, I don't have any problems either with ours on our bdc. However, you lose flexibility. This machine will never be able to join another domain. Which is the main reason that I want to demote the machine to a standalone server. I configured a samba pdc running redhat linux 9.0 and want to move...
Hi guys, I'm a unix/linux guy and I want to switch everybody from a nt domain to samba running on linux. The problem is that the mail server is running on the backup domain controller (the nt stuff was set up long before I started working here). My questions are:
1. How do you demote a bdc to a...
I'm using samba 2.2.7a as a pdc. I'm switching about 20 pcs over to this domain today and want to implement password aging. How do I go about doing that? I have a ton of documentation and I don't even see it mentioned.
Never mind. Although I have samba running as root, when I log on as a user, that user executes the script, which makes sense. So I did not have the permissions set properly for that user.
Hey guys. I'm trying to set up a rh 9.0 box with samba 2.2.7a as a pdc. I'm able to log into the domain and even print to the samba printer. However, my netlogon script is not executing. The pertinent info in my smb.conf file is
...
logon script = netlogon.bat
...
time server = yes
...
I finally got samba working as a pdc on rh 9.0 and samba 2.2.7a. However, we currently run an nt domain and everybody has their client machines set up just so. How do I copy everyone's desktop settings, outlook setup, etc., so that when they log into the new samba domain their desktop looks and...
Okay, I got things working, but I'm not really sure what can be learned from this. I did the following:
1. completely removed the smbpasswd file and started from scratch. (I did this because of the corrupt db message)
2. Eliminated the add user script directive in smb.conf (because it didn't...
Here's the latest. I completely removed the trust account for the xp machine and added the add user script directive in smb.conf. Here's what I got in the logs:
smb_create_user: Running the command `/usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null - g machines -s /bin/false -M hercules$' gave 6
What does...
