Every so often I have problems on boot-up. After looking at the event log the problems, or some of them, appear to be :-
1. The DHCP Client service hung on starting;
2. The Windows Audio service failed to start due to the following error: The pipe state is invalid;

My main audio device does not appear on bootup until I execute "sfc /scannow". I now run "sfc /scanboot" to ensure this runs each time I boot up the PC - I do not want to do this as it takes nearly 10 minutes. Is there a permanent solution?

I have lost the standard Welcome/Login screen with all the user names, and it has reverted to the old style login window. I have used the Control Panel - User Accounts function to no avail. How do I get it back?
4 clients, 1 server all running Win2k Pro. It was installed by another person and was working for a while. The network had some problems and he changed the IP addresses from automatic to static.
