I think its is invaluable to be able to make nice patch cables, they also have boots to go with them, co they look really goot when done, something must be good about EZ-RJ45 because Leviton makes ends for it!! It sure beats having to break your fingers making them the old fashion way!!
I just spoke with Jason at Test-Um. I had wrote an email concerning the "flaky" software and just about everything I asked for is in next release.

I only asked because there are times when I need a patch cable and dont have anything but a 50 footer! This would be nice for those emergency situations where you were trying to finish up and didnt have a patch cable. Would have had a use for it the otherday. As far as a tester, I just purchased...
You can get them at Home Depot, it works great and there are a few different staples you can get for it. If you go looking for it at Home Depot, it will not be in the tools sections with other staplers, it will be in the electrical section. I let someone borrow it one, asked for it back and he...
Has anyone used one of these? It seems too good to be true, the connectors are a bit expensive, but if this tool works then it could be very cost effective solution, you may actually break even making patch cords!!

All I did at this location is terminate the punch panel, another individual installed wiring. I know he stapled because I couldnt pull any slack from wall locations when I had to redo some of his keystone terminations. I use staples on my CAT5 installes but they are Powerfast Cable Tacker kind...
OK, I have only used the Validator a few times so far, but for what I have used it for it has worked great!! I tested my new install at my company, and tested the CAT3 phone jacks before termination in the communications closet, this worked great, I found about 4 Keystones that were not...
I know I dont need a $5000 unit to do what I need to do! I simply cannot spend that kind of money right now, I am just starting out and this tool is way more than what I have now. I have been wiring for a few years and just using a simple 4 light tester, it test for opens and shorts only. So...
I finally made my decision.......I just ordered the NT950 Validator...I hope I am happy with it!! I thought the Byte Brothers unit was too limited. The Test-Um will do all kinds of cables. I will submit my test results, though I have nothing to compare too!! I also got the 3 day shipping!!
I also managed to get instructions for Test-Um NT950

Thank you for the reply, I have found the mentioned unit for (Test-Um Validator)$919. I would appreciate if you would still get back to me though. Test-um markets the NT950 as a certifier? Is this not the case? Can this unit ping computers/ip addresses? Also do you have a PDF of the owners...
