Contacted Vadim Burtyansky through his program, but in his reply he suggested, that Windows XP doesn't need his solution, My Computer-->Manage-->Disc Management would do the job.
But...XP does not allow the change of the system disc. Period... Apparently the references are the problems.
So any...
I downloaded Sonar trial and still could not get any sound.
Since this controller wasn't used for years, is there any way to check if it is defective?
I located the IN connector on the Soundblaster Live! game port, so I feel confident that the hardware connection is correct.
Since there was no...
Thanks fellows.
Installed ServicePack 1 and Maxtor excepted it and I was able to install the full 160 GB with it's Maxblast so I didn't need the Maxtor's 133ATA card. So the problem is solved and thank you again.
Thanks for such a prompt reply fellows;
The issue here is not speed but the 160 GB. The Dell's mobo based IDE supports only 133 GB (is it Windows XP limit?) so I could not use the Maxtor to it's full capacity.
Another question: Could I possibly replace the soundcard with a quality AGP slot...
Thanks CDLVJ for reply
Soundblaster SB live! has a Midi port with the 16 pin connector split into two 5 pin round connectors but i don't know which is in or out they are not marked. Tried both they don't seemto be active.
I can play MIDI files well, I have an old Turtle Beach Sequencer, I like...
To install a 160 GB Maxtor HD I need to install its ATA/133 PCI card. But my only PCI slot is used by the Soundblaster Live! soundcard. Any advise?
Dell Dimension 8200 1.7 Ghz 256 RAM Windows XP Home.
I got a Roland PC-200 MK II MIDI keyboard controller. The out plug (5 pin round) connects to the Joystick/MIDI connector on the Soundblaster Live! I still can not get a sound. The Roland manual doesn't say a word how to operate it with the PC to create sound. Any advise? Thanks. Note: If this is...
Thanks fellows.
bcastner's referenhce to the article gave me all the info, but it quotes:
"many MS_DOS based and Windows based programs make references to a specific drive letter, if modified, these programs may not function properly"
This was what I was afraid of since I am using...
I have 2 HHD-s, a 30 GB and an 80 GB as well as a CD-ROM and DVD burner. They were originally set up with a very awkward drive lettering (don't ask me why and how - I don't know)
a: floppy 3 1/2"
c: 30 GB HD used as a slave for data only (video clips) Mod # ST330630A, NTFS single...
Loosing data with RAID 0 striped for video editing is not a big issue, since I can always recapture them - either from the VHS tapes or the camcorder tapes. Broadcast is not my bag.
I decided to get the Maxtor 160 GB drive since it provides also the card, but I don't think it supports RAID so...
Thank you fellows.
Goldenchild: I do use now two HDDs, the first of 80 GB has ALL my programs, OS etc and the second: 30 GB is dedicated to the videoclips only. This is the one I would like to replace with a 160 GB new drive ( AVI files take a tremendous space - over a GB/min.)
I found the best...
