NEW VIRUS HEADSUP
You may want to look at Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus System at http://www.grisoft.com. It’s a free AV program that works better for me than Norton. They added an update for SoBig on 01/10/03.- chaproc

remove startup items
I recall reading somewhere that using MSCONFIG to remove start-up programs should only be done as a temporary troubleshooting effort. SpyBot error msg
Just a quick note: You might want to select English as the language for your SpyBot installation to avoid looking up future messages. See the second item from left in the menu bar. English is the 5th one down. German is the default language.- chaproc

I subscribe to the Langalist newsletter which recently had the following article regarding AdAware: There's more trouble with Ad-Aware (the free anti-spyware tool from Lavasoft).
