The answer is yes. The operating system must be the same, as does the version of the database. While the backups are RMAN, what is backed up are the datafiles. The same principles (limitations) of copying datafiles from one machine to another apply to RMAN. AIX to AIX, Solaris to Solaris...- CGLC
