I'm running a system remote shell command from a perl script that puts the output to STDOUT. I want to redirect the output to a variable for this one command only. How do I do that?
My bigest concern is that some people will use the CD/RW to copy music CD's. I did find from microsoft Tech Net an article, Q158457, that shows a way to hide any drive from the user. It mentions that it can disable access on a per user basis but doesn't explain how that is done. Anyone got more...
The network in my area is changing to handle 100 mbits/sec. Currently my systems are running at 10 mbits/sec. How do I find out if the network cards in my HP 10.20 servers and workstations are capable of running at the faster speed? If they are, how do I change them?
For you deleted files on mapped drives, Check Executive Software Undelete program. It saves files deleted on the domain to it's local recycle bin even when done remotely.
I am installing a CD/RW drive to a NT 4.0 SP3 workstation. How do I set it up so only a selcet group of people can use the device locally and over the domain?
All my users have domain accounts and all the workstations are in the domain. Any users can map a NT workstation drive from any other NT workstation but not from the Windows 95 PC's. All NT workstation have the drives as shared resources. What now?
I have NT workstations in a small domain and I want to map some of the disk drives to my Windows95 system that is not in the domain but is on the same physical subnet. I am able to map the PDC and BDC disks to my PC but not the workstations. What gives? I am using TCP\IP on the network. When I...
I'm thinking about using this product to maintain my small NT domain but I'm hesitant of this because it's version 1.0. Does anyone have any experience with this product?
The problem was limitted to the workstation not the user. I removed the workstation from the domain, rebooted, put it back into the domain and rebooted again. The printing setup works after this. Thank you.<br>

I did look in the Network Neighborhood on the PDC and the workstation is still...
I have a domain of about 50 NT workstations, a PDC and one BDC. The BDC is the print server for the domain. The users get NFS mounting and printer setups from the BDC using kixtart login script. One of the workstations gets the NFS mounts but an error message says the server is not available...
I'm having a problem with some executables on my NT server and workstations and I wanted to know the checksums of each of the files. I know about the compare utility but I wanted to know the checksums also. Does anyone know if there is utility program in the resources kits or anywhere else that...
Thanks for the replys. Zelandakh was on the right track. I found that the 95 user needed to have accounts on the local workstations. Having domain accounts for the users wasn't enough.
