Yes, I've gotten into the router settings and it appears it is not getting the ip from the modem. But I can't figure out why since it supplies an ip to the computer.

Do you have Norton Internet Security? If so, you need to run the network wizard from within Norton.

Sounds like you're in for an o/s reload for sure. You can backup the drivers using this freeware utility. It works 95% of the time. http://www.softpile.com/Utilities/Backup/Review_14886_index.html

Can you get to it from here: Run "devmgmt.msc" or "compmgmt.msc" Have you tried this: Run "mmc", File --> Add/Remove Snap-In, Add, select Device Manager and add it. Can you get to it from Safe MOde?

Have you tried a System Restore?

Had this problem recently on a client's computer. Upgraded to v 7.0 and it solved the problem.
