Coming to Mac for the first time. Bought a Powermac Sawtooth secondhand, wiped osx 9 off and installed OS X. Super machine, fantastic O/S, then one day, wanted to load Filemaker Developer 5, and the O/S wanted to search for Classic, which of course doesn't exist on my machine!
From trawling...
I bought imic for this purpose. It connects thru usb and is perfect and has reasonable software too. A moderate price for such a tool.

Thanks for your reply Grayshades. I have ThinkFree, it is a bit slow. I have also Open Office, which is faster at opening and I am happier with that. Have not heard of Ragtime will look at that.

If you move to OS X then I would highly recommend
http://www.titanium.free.fr, and their program Onyx,
it optimizes, cleans & much much more besides. Which is important when your Mac is NOT switched on and running the whole time as you need to consider maintenance, and that's where Onyx from...
It also works the other way without problems. On the Mac, you have finder related hidden .ds files they are visible on the PC end, but you can delete them from a Toast session. I use Toast Lite 5.2.2.1 and have no issues with Hybrid (as Toast calls them) CD's being read on Windows or Linux...

Never works with other browsers. Steve Butterworth

Dates are always a pain. I find the best way is to move dates as a text field. Although as you say they can always be <doctored> in a spreadhseet.
Glad I helped you. Steve Butterworth
Time is fluid
First of all in Filemaker export to TAB delimited text.
Open up Access and use the wizard in Access to import this TAB file.
I have never had problems doing it this simple way. Steve Butterworth
