In arcserve there are two kinds of compression allowable Hardware & Software...there is no doubt ..cos i have had exactly the same problem... that your hardware compression, which is crap, is enabled which means that even though you check the compress data box when scheduling the backup this is...- bumble

Cheyenne ArcserveIT 6.61 for NT single server edition
If you have an Arcserve account logging on to NT make sure you have not inadvertenly changed the access privilages or administrator password ( your arcserve may use the admin password and rely on admin privilages to get access to other machines )- bumble

90% data compression on DDS3 Media.
i am, in vain so it seems, ( i find this web site torturous to navigate )trying to get help with a back up data compression problem. I run ArcServe on NT4.0. I use DDS3 12 GB( native capacity ) Sony Tapes with a HP SureStore Dat drive but can only achive 90% data compression: these tapes should...- bumble
