I work in an extremely large environment currently running 5.1. We would like to increase our password length control on all user accounts to heighten security. The issue is that any accounts with passwords less than the new setting will cause the password to expire at next login. We would...
It seems that my Exchange server is rejecting Internet messages sent from people with apostrophes in their email address (i.e. From: jon.o'connor@domain.com). It gives a "sender rejected...mailbox name not allowed" message to the sender. Does anyone know why this is happening and if...
If you just need to do this for a couple of users, you can create contacts in AD with the outside domain email address. Once these are created, you can set up your internal mailboxes to forward to these contacts.
Just to clarify- you do need to have the MBX folder shared under the Web Sharing tab in order for OWA to work correctly, but you don’t need to have any FILE sharing enabled (Sharing tab). The permissions you want to look at are the NTFS permissions under the security tab. These permissions are...
Your MBX folder should be shared under the Web Sharing tab if you want to use OWA. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s necessary to share it with file permissions. You will want to check the NTFS permissions on the individual mailbox folders and make sure the Everyone and Domain Users groups don’t...
You may want to check the mailbox permissions in Active Directory. Open a user account, select the Exchange Advanced tab, select mailbox rights, and review the permissions. Make sure the Everyone group doesn't have Full Mailbox access. Maybe this is the cause?
I haven't noticed any problems since I made the change. I also understand that ESMTP is supposedly more secure and efficient. I have also read that there is a benefit for using ESMTP if your Exchange server is setup to retrieve messages queued at another server (i.e. your ISP queues your...
In the Outlook Express Address Book you can Import an Exchange/Outlook 2000 PAB. Just open the Express Address Book, choose File, Import, Other Address Book, and select Micorsoft Exchange Personal Address Book. It will search for the PAB associated with your Outlook 2000.
You can set up an Exchange Contact in AD that points to an outsied SMTP address. Then go into the internal user account/mailbox, select the Exchange General tab, delivery options, and set it to forward to the contact.
Changing DNS should help you with this. You can create a CNAME/Alias record with just about anything you want that will point to your Exchange server. One thing we did was add a record of email.comany.com which points to the www root on the Exchange server where we put an Exchange Home Page...
I have heard that there are a few good products out there, but I have only tried a few. The one I use is Trend ScanMail and it works great for our purposes. It has a real time scanner that scans all messages going through the Exchange server and gives you some flexibility with options like...
From what I understand, it's how your Exchange server initiates a conection with another messaging system for outbound messages. When it sends an initial EHLO command, it's asking to communicate using Extended SMTP (ESMTP). When it sends HELO, it's asking to communicate using regular SMTP...
Shawn,
I ran into a similar problem and one easy checkbox seemed to make a difference. In the Exchange System Manager, find your SMTP connector and open up its properties. On the Advanced tab, select "Send HELO instead of EHLO". I hope this helps.
