I have a compaq armada m700 and I tried to remove it's power on password. I went into bios and removed the password. I basically entered the old password and set a new one of blank. Now the laptop still asks for the password but wont accept blank!!! help me as I am now locked out of my laptop!

Maybe you are right? I have only started to look into WINS but I cannot understand WHY we have so many failed lookups, where are they coming from?

We are having a problem with our wins servers (we think!!) in that they are showing as having 36,998 failed queries and 19,275 successful queries. I think this is not right!! Is there a way to monitor what the failed queries are so that we can try and track down the problems? We have 2 servers...

It's OK I figured it out! Think it is called static port mappings? Basically needed to forward any packets on the above ports to the same ports on one of my PC's inside my network.

Folks, I am trying to audit who is changing static entries in my WINS servers. I have switched on auditing on the WINS folder for Domain Admins. I went into the database and added an entry but it did not show up in Event Viewer. Can somebody tell me how I can monitor this?

Thanks for the info on the config reg. I had set it to 2142 to get the old password and forgot to change it back. My mistake also because I want to know how to do a PORT MAPPING.

Folks How do I do port forwarding on a 2611 router? I want to forward ports 1024-1030 from outside to inside and vice versa. I am having a problem with DCC Sends on IRC so any help would be great. Thanks Craig Jameson

Thanks for all your help guys. I have now managed to get it working!!! One other problem I am seeing is if I reboot the Router it does not seem to load the running config automatically, is this normal? If I do copy start run then it works OK. Thanks again for all your help.
