I wish to thank everyone for they're helpful suggestions, I reinstalled sp2 and this time it worked just fine. I am still uncertain about what happened, it was probably a freak accidnet.
Still thanks to everyone for their help.
I have checked the event viewer for errors, compared them...There were errors but they were all registered for after the Service Pack was installed (Successfully) matter of fact the first error shows up right after I preform the required reboot.
No, I'm not entirely sure what I should look for, I've never had to check the event viewer for errors before...What exactly would happen if it did have errors?
TheGuru: Maxtor seemed like a good choice at the time, its actually been a good hdd. Guess I lucked out. But the problem is since I did what I had to get the system to boot, its taking ten minutes instead of like the two or three it used to.
Linney: Well, this wasn't a clean install or format...
The guru, you make a good point, but since SP2 caused my system not to boot I was unwilling to tempt the fates just then. I am not blaming Microsoft, I'm just seeking answers.
Wishdiak: Yes, I am sure, I wrote down the exact error that I recieved (always do) I am praying now since md drive is...
I've recovered most of the hotfixes (Been up since six getting them) So I am about back to where I was before SP2,
I am leary of reinstalling the SP2, as someone suggested, for fear of the same problem occuring.
Do you have a suggestion for what might have caused the problem in the first place...
Alright, first off, I'm sorry to say but I have XP Home Edition and since theres no forum for Home Edition I choose the closest one I could find.
Anyway, this is just a question about the SP2 updated, which I installed yesterday. The problem I had was that after it was installed and I rebooted...
mbd0722,
Go to wwww.quepublishing.com, they have a book that you might be able to use. ISBN: 0-7897-2800-1 Upgrading and Repairing Laptops.
I happened to find a listing for it in an A+ course book, didn't know if you were still looking for something like it but decided that I would let you...
As micker377 said, notebooks are all designed differently, I don't know any repair courses for laptops. All I can say is keeping your eyes open for one and if you do work on a notebook without a course remember that a laptop is basically a shrunk down desktop. Use common sense and you should be...
Thank you edfair and no I have a strick limit on the amount of S&M I can tolerate. :)
Anyway, I know what you mean about the windows 95 CD and floppies, I actually did make a set of floppies from them (no special formating was needed which shocked me, used the standard 1.44 from wal-mart of all...
443? That's a lot of floppies, unforutnately I don't have that many laying around. Shame, but what files do you think would be needed if one was to do it?
For fun I've been thinking about making windows 98 floppies from a windows 98 CD. I know it can be done with a Windows 95 CD, so I'm just curious if it could be done with a Windows 98 CD.
So feel like it, through in your two cents, I'll probably wind up trying it and let you know...but I'm not...
Yes, it did work. I didn't purchase it, I recieved it because they bought a new computer. The old harddrive was taken out because someone else needed a harddrive when theirs died.
I then purchased a brand new harddrive, it took me a bit to reattach all the lines, and cables properly but now...
I checked the CPU cooler fan, it is connected, and everything seems to be seated properly, so is there anything else you could suggest to help me?
