OK panic over - I deleted it to the recycle bin and checked what would happen. Fault cured. . I didn't know about FILE LOCATIONS tab in Options, never spotted it before. So your response was very useful. Thanks very much.- Bletmoker

Thanks for that. Nothing changed yet. The Startup Folder for Word contains the one file called wfword2k.dot Clicking on its properties tells me it's a MultiVISION Word 2000/WOrdXP Macro for WinFax I don't think I use WinFax unless that is what XP has as its onboard built in Fax which is...- Bletmoker
