I had the same experience on my IBM 600x laptop until I used a stand alone modem - USRobotics Sportster 56k. I'm able to connect everytime so far - about 20 times. I going through the aux connection on an 18D using the intercom process to dial into the Avaya box. I've connect at the correct bps...- bladeII
