    Display of -- "specify field"

EXCELLENT! Can't thank you enough. I did that, opened the original database, journeyed into layout mode, and checked the button status of the field. It did have properties, that of "Go to related record". I totally missed that one. The auto-enter tab does not have the calculation box checked...

    Display of -- "specify field"

No button corresponds to this field/location on page/resulting activity in the original file. Since I'm new to Filemaker, I copied this original's structure as closely as I possibly could. I didn't want to actually copy over database objects, because the original has problems. The latency, the...

    Display of -- "specify field"

The reason I'm asking this (and this is a continuation of a previous post) is that I have a field that isn't performing the way it appears it should. The original database has a lookup that locks up the application for about 30 seconds. The secondary file, the one cited by the lookup, resides in...

    Display of -- "specify field"

Does anyone know what the significance is of the bold text displayed if one does a right click on a field? I have one field that does NOT show this feature, and I'm wondering why. (So, my question is really about the lack of the bold text). Forgive me please if this is too obvious. Our...

    Wanted - New User Books

This one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201702452/qid=1106779687/sr=2-2/ref=pd_ka_b_2_2/104-3849940-0709509 isn't a "how to" book, but takes it to a higher level. Knowing unix programming (sed, awk, perl) is another route to take to extend one's abilities vis a vis the OS.

Latency experienced -- Windows XP, Filemaker Pro version 4

The other thing may be (of course) that I'm way off base in my diagnosis. Much of this has come to me from persons with quite a bit of Filemaker experience (as with the statement about Filemaker apparently storing preferences or directives in areas which cannot be viewed).

Latency experienced -- Windows XP, Filemaker Pro version 4

Thanks again. The problem here is that there are no apparent references to networked assets. No relationship or script that points to a networked asset. In the absence of any apparent cause of this, or some directive in a database file, a registry setting, or a configuration file that is not...

Latency experienced -- Windows XP, Filemaker Pro version 4

Thanks, Jean. I'm arranging for this workstation to be reconfigured with Windows 2000. Do you know what it is about Windows XP that may be a contributing factor in this, or where one can get more information on why this is? Also, is there way for someone to view the command that is prompting...

Latency experienced -- Windows XP, Filemaker Pro version 4

A client has Windows XP, and is experiencing the following problem. 1. He opens an FM Pro 4 database that has a relationship with another FM Pro 4 database. 2. When he clicks on the field that has the relationship defined, his Filemaker session times out. 3. Both database files are on his...
