Hi ---
after reading this I am thinking that it sounds like the whole idea of having a hard drive backup offsite might be a bad idea. I have a test server that I could try out the acronis images on...but what's this about using active directory?
Hope you are having a good day.
I appreciate your response --- unfortunately I just was able to take a look at it and I have to go into a meeting. Would it be possible for you to check out my follow up questions which I will post tomorrow? I greatly appreciate your help....kind of blind on this path.
Hi. I am trying to come up with a strategy for disaster recovery in an environment that I did not configure and I am posting in this forum because we have 3 servers and they are all RAID. My experience with RAID disaster recovery is fairly limited so I apologize for the newb questions.
The...
sql server 2000 w/ db running on one server. All data is pushed to second server. This set up was running fine until user with elevated privelages reset all permissions on shares on second server. SQL server can no longer find shares to dump data. My question is -- if user was able to set...
IBM Xseries200 --- leaking capicitors on the motherboard..... I swapped board / issue resolved.
<<known issue with model type>>
thanks again for everyone's help.
Just added another 512 MB RAM about two weeks ago and machine is performing at about 20% resources consumed. I have 4 GB space free on the HDD (8.5 GB total). It happens everytime I try and transfer large files. I will try and swap out the NIC soon..... could a bad NIC result in a system...
Nope -- it is IBM model 8478-50x. And I was wrong earlier on two things... one it is service pack 4 (other server is 3 right now) and second I played around with it a bit more and i AM able to get the machine to reboot even if I am logged on locally.
okay --- tried it again from the server itself ---- I can copy large directories from the server to a station if I am logged on locally. However, if I try to move the same directory while at a workstation from the server to the same workstation --- no error messages on server and crashes.
checked the fan out and it is running fine. We aren't running zone alarm and the only error messages is the unexpected shutdown. this is very frustrating and I thank you for your continued help.
yes, it is error 6008 --- unexpected shutdown. I had read that thread too and it isn't a power issue, and the hard drive is less than a year old. Investigating online for error 6008 yielded many, many returns but none that sounded like they could result in my problem.
okay... I have monitored the cpu useage and everything is going fine. It would go all the way from 2% useage to 99.9% percent without reboot. Monitored system while attempting to copy large directory from server to workstation. Lost contact at 23%.
okay --- just found something new today ---- I was able to cause a reboot today while accessing a share from a workstation --by right clicking a file and selecting "open with" --- server dropped immediately.
The only reason why I think it might be something else is that it has been running fine for six months --- then this started. ((I have scowered the system with updated definition virus scans))
I saw it happen again on this last friday when someone tried to copy the contents of a network...
