    No, ufortunately I have not run WD's utility. Actually I didn't know such a thing existed. Thanks for the website Wolluf. However, the HDD is still under warranty, so I'll just send it back to the vendor for a new one. Thanx to everyone that replied to this thread!

    Yes, I'm sure the 6Gb HDD works fine. I have tried running scandisk, it ran the normal check when the computer was restarted since I scheduled a check.
