Hello All,
I'm building a new lpar on a p650/5300-04 using nim. All goes well untill the reboot, the lpar gives an error code :
00c9 CDT:BOS
00c9 CDT:VMM
.....and then goes into a loop rebooting itself.
Has anyone come across this before ??
cheers

Hello All,
I have configured auditing to give me an "exec" message each time a certain command is issued by a certain user but I cannot seem to log the syntax of the command, this is some text from the trail log:
RSH_Stat root OK Mon Jun 04 15:00:01 2007 rsh...
Hello All,
I would like a "warning message" issued on screen every time a certain command (rsh) is issued.
ie
rsh nodename date
"THIS IS A WARNING, BLAH, BLAH !"
I don't want to stop the command from being run.
Any ideas,
cheers

If you follow this link it will explain the difference :

Hello,
If you issue command "oslevel -rl 5200-09" it will list the filesets required for that ML level.
Also "lppchk -v" or "lppchk -m3 -v" will do similar.
Should give you a starting point to correct what's been done,

Khalid,
Do you want to backup /tmp ?
If not use the "-e" flag with the savevg/mksysb and exclude it.

you can find out what filesets are required for ML8 by issuing either :
oslevel -rl 5200-08
or
lppchk -m3 -v
this should give you a starting point

Sam,
If you want to go a little deeper and learn a little more about what certain files are used for you can edit the /etc/security/passwd file and remove the 'ADMCHG' flag that is registered against the user when you set their password, only if your confident enough though !

Hello All,
I would like to tell when a bosboot is required before installing a fileset. I know that performing a 'prev' does not tell you and I know that the information is in the .toc file but not quite sure where.
When I view a .toc file all the filesets have some flags, ie :
U b B (etc)...
try this one :
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pseries/v5r3/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.cmds/doc/aixcmds4/nim_master_recover.htm
there is a lot more to do other than restoring from mksysb
