Client Engine and Workgroup Engine - These are two of the three engines pervasive offers.
I understand their are three offerings in v8....I found this information on the pervasive.com site
Pervasive v8 Server
Pervasive v8 Client (requester)
Pervasive v8 Workgroup
(All versions of Pervasive...
I have a very similar problem... Im using Pervasive v8.5.
The two applications I have are ACCPAC(an old version) and the latest (Jul) build of Maximizer.
One server hosts the data for both these.
ACCPAC wants the client engine, but when I install maximizer it removes the client engine and...
Check to see if the ODBC connetion is working using the ODBC console.... Like that TEST button under ODBC.
If its not working there, then we have some bad news. I had this problem, but was able to fix it with a registry setting. I think Maximizer screwed it all up and I had to do a bit of a...
We use ACCPAC and Maximizer, but ACCPAC requires only Pervasive 2000.
HOWEVER, both of these databases reside on the same server which is running PV8, not 2000i. ACCPAC works fine accessing the PV8 server and of course every client has Pv8 installed on it.
Just to let you know.
Yea, just use the Engine DNS to create a connection....There is tons of stuff on Pervasives site (development) .
I went with an ODBC connection, 'Pervasive ODBC Engine Interface'. But I host my pervasive data on the same server as the web server. If you host pervasive data on a different...
Strange.
We were doing this for about a year and it was lighting quick.
We are still doing it, but with ASP.NET and Pervasive V8 now instead of 2000i with aSP.
Id be happy to give you some tips if you want.

Ok, so I think you are saying that pervasive ODBC driver is in effect, faster than OLE DB. This is good to know.
Here is a sample query:
First I build a query, but the details are too long to post, here is the majority of it:
SQL = "SELECT iciloc.LOCATION as location, iciloc.ITEMNO...
Hey;
I've been developing our intranet based on pervasive SQL v8. Currently I use vb (ASP) and the Pervasive ODBC Engine driver...
BUT, things are too slow. I am wondering if there exists an OLE DB driver and and OBDC driver? Which one would be fastest?
I have the connection string for...
Can you use the PCC on the webserver at the same time as the Accpac users?
What does this mean? Yes I can open the PCC on the webserver, and all the Accpac users can still access accpac.
Also, can you double click on the a table in the PCC and does it display data?
No. IT does not, but it...
Since you have the client installed on the Web server, can you use the Pervasive Control Center to access the database?
It appears so. When, on the web server I click on Pervasive Control Center, Center>Connect to Server and put in WATERMELON, then it connects and lists watermelon including the...
Pinging watermelon [192.168.0.1] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
etc
I wish that was the problem :(
Next, I tried:
objConn.ConnectionString = "Driver={Pervasive ODBC Client Interface};servername=watermelon;ServerDSN=PRO"
objConn.Open
I get the...
