Looking for recommendations for a free or low cost app to use for video conferencing on a P2P. I can't seem to get an definitive answer on the risks associated with skype. Any thoughts?
Linney - these links confirm my post: there are only two ways to skin this cat - slipstream or f6/floppy drive install of the drivers. I finally succeeded with the install of XP on the Dimension E521. I used a USB floppy drive and basically had no problems with it finding the files on the...
After 8 hours of trying every work around I could find, I have concluded this: when it comes to installing XP on a SATA drive, you have to either slipstream the installation disk or load the controller drivers using a floppy at the F6 prompt. A flash drive or CD with the drivers will not work...
Wow - thanks for the wealth of info Linney. I did search the T-T archives but aparently came up short or I wouldn't have bothered with my post. Anyway, I have decided to take the least painful way out of this situation by putting a second drive w/XP in the PC and keep the original intact so...
New dell dimension preloaded with Vista. Owner can't function without certain apps that currently are not Vista compatible. She finally talked Dell into cutting her a deal on the purchase of replacement XP software but not until they gave her a big attitude and suggested the problem was her...
My understanding is that the contacts folder is treated differently than the others and therefore the deletions from contacts does not go into the deleted items folder. I did check out your suggestion and couldn't find "recover deleted items" under tools (or any where else). Thanks for the input.
Help! I accidently deleted a distribution list in Outlook 2002 and can't get the names/addresses back. I ran the MS Inbox Repair Tool for recovery of PST files but it didn't work. I have also tried a couple of freeware apps that haven't worked. I even tried a system restore to a point a few...
I attempted to install a mini pci intel adapter in a PCG GRT250p, which happens to be a Canadian version of the GRT250, hence the problem. I believe Canada has tighter controls on wireless emissions and this particular model should have a switch that the user turns on to enable the wireless...
Hey thanks for the info about the master browser. I did end up following the suggestions of the KB article and also found another microsoft article (KB 825826) that addresses the protocol for troubleshooting workgroup networking problems. I was successful in resolving the problem but I believe...
Our P2P has been experiencing networking issues on and off for a couple of weeks. I don't know a whole lot about networking. The 12 offices in the organization have cat 5 feeding into a device that is basically like a junction box with an RJ45 port for each office that can then be connected to...
Hey XIT, thanks for the helpful link. I think it may be just what I am looking for.
And Iwcomputing - yes the Dimension line is typically not considered business class, but the XPS 410 has quite a few reviews that have considered it as such. My adversion to Dell is based on history. I am...
Looking to purchase several business class PC's for under $1000 ea. Dell's XPS 410 gets good reviews but I hate dealing with Dell on any level. I haven't been that impressed with the Dual core processors I've seen in terms of speed or multi-tasking. Just wondering what others are purchasing.
