Ok here is where i am now with this....
I called Adobe Expert support who basically gave me the "duh" answer and that they dont support After effects over networks except for the render engine.
We kinda came to the conclusion that it was AE due to several tests...

here is our setup:
1 domain controller running win2k3 enterprise - this does all the authentication on the domain.
10 win xp proffesional machines all joined to the domain - 10 users - 2 user groups.
10 mac g5s running panther 10.3, these machines use admit mac...

We have setup a 2nd domain controller as a backup to our win2003 domain controller.
We added it to our domain and ran dcpromo to promtote it as a domain controller,
It seems to be working fine except for some strange issues with the dns.
Basically once the dns was setup it can see both...
all the users and member servers were removed from the network, added to a workgroup test, then once the new domain was up and running they joined the new domain.
so i assume none of the old sids are there anyway since they were removed from the old domain as a member.
Please let me know if this seems to be the right way to go about this as we are having huge trouble with permissions in our domain.

some of the users are having random problems copying files from one PC users computer to a Mac users computer.
