Windows 2000 terminal server:-
If a user logs on at the physical console, or via VNC, as either a network or a local user, it instantly re-boots.
By this I mean you begin to get the blue desktop backgroup, but before you get any icons or even a task bar you are presented with a brief black...
my mistake - i shouldnt expect 600 instances of 644, my NT knowledge is a little rusty and I presumed these were bad logon attempts when they areof course lock out notifications.
Bottom line is were aparantly having 600 failed attempt within 90 mins when our network is at its least populated in...
On our NT domain we have begun to experience the frequent (multiple times daily) lockout of out network administrator user.
Looking at the Security logs for Event ID's 644 it seems aparant that the source workstations are 3 different Server boxes within our LAN, this is happening randomly but...
Hi, maybe i should've mentioned but the zone in question is a standard primary zone - not an AD Integrated.
With that in mind, nsantin will this suggestion still be relevant...?
The second port is just unplugged - NOT disabled.
I realised that it would still be configured to register with DNS yesterday and so disabled this, yet the host record still reappeared again overnight last night!
Hi
We have a multihomed server which only has one of its NIC ports plugged into our network.
We did however briefly plug the second port into the network last week, having un-plugged the original connection.
This second port immediately grabbed a DHCP address. Now that we no longer have this...
Hi,
Bit of history first. We have recently installed an Exchange 2K3 server (on an 2K3 DC). Previously we had our mail hosted by an ISP and connected via pop3.
Now via our new Exchange server we are unable to send email to one particular domain. Each time we get the bounce :-
"Your message...
Hi
Using VSS 6.0 (sp6) on both W2k and WXP pro clients.
On many clients, occasionally, and somewhat randomly, when a word doc is opened from sourcesafe ("view sourcesafes copy" as opposed to checking out), Word will open but there will be no document open within it.
I appear to be able to...
Weve an ISA server on w2K server sp3 which is our internet server / proxy server using our main BT Openworld broadband ADSL link.
If and when this link goes down, to provide a backup internet (and ultimately mail) route ive installed an ISDN adapter on my server and configured a dialup...
We print to our HP Laserjet from XP and 200 pro. Particularly throught Word 2002 we often require our prints to be "u-collated" i.e. when printing x copies of a multi page document we want x copies of page 1 printed first, followed by x copies of page 2, page 3 etc.
Un-checking the...

Basically i need to keep mt nt4 bdc as it is our RAS server, until i can get RAS moved off of it.
all i need to know is that a dns ad integrated zone will work ok between my other 2003 dc's with the presence of the NT4 bdc on the network, although it will not have dns installed on it...
Hi
Thanks, youve answered my question, but...
I dont actually want my NT4 BDC to host a DNS zone, i simply will have an AD integrated zone replecating between my two 2003 servers. I presume that this if anything makes life easier than the scenario you described where you have an NT4 secondary...
Hi
Nowehere can I find a definitive yes or no to this question, i think its a yes.
Basically, can you feasibly run an AD Integrated DNS zone between W2K3 servers, on a domain which also happens to have an NT4 BDC present.
Our domain currently runs in this state, since we upgraded one NT4 PDC...
