    mail arrives as attachments

An attachment called 'Winmail.Dat' is a good indication that the mail has been stored at a server or opened by a client that the software is either set to or does not understand MAPI, yet the message has been sent from a MAPI compatible client.

anti spam on exchange server 5.5 sp4

I placed a helpful hint 'Close relay in Exchange 5.5' 26/6. It would be the quickest way. You can also configure 'Email domain' security & 'Connection' (Who can connect) security. - I tried these but kept going too far & prevent something else from happening. Breifly: IMS Connector...

anti spam on exchange server 5.5 sp4

Depends on what you mean, - did you want to stop your exchange server being used to spam others - this is the open relay problem. Or did you want to stop your recipients from receiving mail that has been sent from a spammer - goto www.mail-abuse.org

    Automatic Forwarding to Multiple recipients

Obviously you want to broadcast one email sent to domain.com, to a few people in the global address list. Create a distibution list, call it what-ever, include the recipients, & check the email address is what you want. *Remove the email address if you only want exchange users to use the...

Close the relay in Exchange 5.5

We have a permanent dial-up & experienced spamming via the open relay of Exchange 5.5 with an internet mail connector. Six web searches later (& nearly bowing to MS's configuration charge of $300).LOL These are 3 steps into closing that hole. >(::O> 1: IMS (Internet Mail Service) CONNECTOR...

Hi, I am trying to set security on an Access database based upon the users' NT group (Sales, Production, Finance etc.) But I would like to use the NT defined groups, as administration would become a nightmare. Thanks.

    Slow 2958G

I have replaced a couple of 24port low-low-end switches with a cat2948G, & the network seems to be running noticably slower. After logon issues, & DHCP workstations finding public IP addresses, I have set trunk off to all ports, channel off to all ports, & spantree portfast enabled...

    Printing reports from different trays

Is there any way to program in access or by vba, to print the one report to diffent printer bins. I have tried to find help through HP - PCL, but no-one seems to know how to do it relatively easily, one person has suggested to set up 3 printer-names, with the default tray different on each...

    Blocking or logging attachments

Hi, I want to be able to block most users from receiving attachments in their email to fit in line with our security policy. I can only think of one way -- by limiting the size of the message. I would consider simply logging the openning of attachments, but would rather they didn't get through...

Connecting Exchange to a UNIX mail server

I have just recently changed from Linux-SendMail to Exchange, where the linux box is the unit connected to the outside world. To do this I needed to set up an external IP address on the Exchange box NIC, then declared to my ISP the new address for the mail.<domainname> This assumes you have a...
