External HP writer, has caused all kinds of problems.
I have had similar problems with an HP CD-RW 8200 USB on Windows 2000 Pro. As soon as I tried to install it (with the original HP installation CD) it killed the existing CD-ROM drive (Sony 52x). The drive still works fine in DOS, but W2K Pro cannot use it at all. In Device Manager it says...- apagonyi
