Interupt the boot process at the 10 sec break. When the menu comes up enter SEARCH to see if you have a boot device. I've seen this problem before and it wasn't hardware related, in my case just a VERY bad user messing with the system. Had to kill him <GRIN>!!!!

If I remember correctly that command only affects the netconf file, you MUST have the IP address and host name of the workstation in the /etc/hosts file for the CDE to start. The fastest way is as Clare suggests reboot to single user mode, mount -a, and vi edit the /etc/hosts file.

Thanks for the tip, its never too late, because here at the corporate training centre I'm constantly reloading and reconfiguring the networks and any thing that speeds up the process is a good thing.
