Interupt the boot process at the 10 sec break. When the menu comes up enter SEARCH to see if you have a boot device. I've seen this problem before and it wasn't hardware related, in my case just a VERY bad user messing with the system. Had to kill him <GRIN>!!!!
This is the procedure that I was given to use on C360s here at my daily saltmine for trusted systems that have been f***ed. If it has been set to secure mode then yank the hard disc, the boot will fail to the IODC where you can turn secure mode off. So far I haven't had to use it on the...
We had BICSI come to our site to deliver a couple of courses on cabling to our technical staff. Problem with the BICSI programme was that our tech staff are graduates from a 3-yr technical college and the course that they gave was aimed at electricians with a different skill set. So there...

the switch is Cybex 2 or 4 port made by Avocent the part number I used to buy the beasties was from my local supplier. If you do a search on the web for either of these names you should be able to find the company and a local supplier.
A quick look at the PDF...
I'm using a cybex kvm switch without problems on HP9000/C360, other than my company's policy of using stupid kby mapping on the HP machines. I've got them switching between NT and UX without a problem other than screen resoulution, (can't match the machine at higher resoultion). I've got two...
If I remember correctly that command only affects the netconf file, you MUST have the IP address and host name of the workstation in the /etc/hosts file for the CDE to start. The fastest way is as Clare suggests reboot to single user mode, mount -a, and vi edit the /etc/hosts file.
Thanks for the tip, its never too late, because here at the corporate training centre I'm constantly reloading and reconfiguring the networks and any thing that speeds up the process is a good thing.
Here is a follow up.
I'm trying to get two C360's to talk to each other via the serial port. I'm using Kermit on one and nothing on the other, trying to log into the beastie via the serial port. On the machine running Kermit I'm getting the log in screen from the other machine fine. However...
It was suggested to me to try Kermit for my terminal emulation problems (don't ask). Reading the man pages and a FAQ it looks like I can use it to do serial comms, the only problem is that when I try to connect to another machine the one I'm using locks up. I'm sure I'm using the right...
Head office has graced me with two (2) HP9000 C360 machines with UX 11 on them and as always they haven't sent along the CDs etc. (A tape is in the mail <HA>) I was wondering if ignite comes with UX 11 as it did when I got my machines with 10.20. I looked and ignite doesn't seem to be on the...
I've copied below a couple of responses that I got from the HP forum the DD solution worked on my test file and I haven't tried the script yet (need to get time on a system).
Unlike the response below I found that it worked with /dev/rmt/#m and it had problems using the /dev/rmt/#mnb with the...
Did you ever find out how to do the tape to tape copy????
I have an urgent need to copy DDS 3 tapes. The dd if=/dev/rmt/2m of=/dev/rmt/3m didn't work on the sure store dds 3 tapes either.
