It is true that tar has limit of 2Gb file size.. but if your os level is AIX 5.2 and above, tar has enabled to archive file more than 2Gb size.

Yeah.. its sound like that but the size of the compressed one is 70% reduced. From what i've known, that's the only way, copy the file to a other given name then compressed it.. but need to find out if there is such other way.. TQ.
