Do not keep the subtotal field selected. After placing a subtotal, deselect the subtotal field and then click the insert on the menu bar. The problem is that once you have placed the subtotal it remains focused(selected). Try this. ajayas

Thank you Ngolem i tried that, but doesnt work. the suggestion that dgillz gave worked quite well, the only thing what i didnt want was to prompt the user to select the type ie cr,br,etc. but its ok now.
