is it the Full installation cd or just the updates cd?
What does the dir command on the cd drive show u? if possible just copy and paste the output of the dir command on your next message.

faced a similar problem once. i removed the normal.dot and one more file which was there in the startup (i dont remember the name i think it started with W). after i restarted office everything was fine.

try to get a win98 boot floppy from someone. when u boot from that floppy u get an option for booting with cd rom support.

I am assuming you are using win2k.
Run the windows setup again and choose the repair existing installation option and follow the rest of the instructions when prompted.

create a batch file containing the command to copy the files from one directory to another eg:-
copy c:\*.* to j:\*.*
add a scheduled task in scheduler and browse to the location of your batch file and add it in, specify the time and day it should run. thats all.

It is the just the normal installation procedure for Oracle 9i. When u run the setup of 9i with 8i already installed, the setup process of 9i gives u an option to upgrade ur existing 8i database. still it will be a good idea to take a dump of your data before doing the upgrade just like santa said.
ya i faced the same problem. i just downloaded and ran the fix that was put up on the microsoft website for the blaster and it worked fine after that.
