Just noticed my HyperSPARC (ROSS CPU for S10/S20) had problem with kernel patch.
Got 2 X 180Mhz ROSS CPUs running fine with Solaris 9 (kernel level 112233-07) on S20 until applied the Recommended patches set (kernel level 112233-12), once the patches set installed and reboot, the S20 won't boot...
The "format>format" is for SCSI disk low level format utility, it use to mark defect block...
The "lun" is virtual disk, of course you can't low level format it.
If you still can't get in, try to take out the boot disk and it'll force the system go to OK prompt. Once you change auto-boot to false, then you can do whatever you want... ;-)

Hi Gents,
Just wonder does anyone know where can I find the Cisco iscsi driver for Solaris 9? Tried on Cisco website but they already took out from the web. ;-(
I know Solaris 10 U1 do support the iscsi, due to the limitation of the application, I have to stay on Solaris 9 for while...
Any...
thomgreen,
Here is the procedure how to move your root partition to new disk (or slice), I'll assume the old root disk is on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 nad new root disk is on /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0:
1. boot up old root disk as signal user mode.
2. newfs /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0
3. mount /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0 /mnt
4...
If I remembered right, it should be ncol=4 but 3...
ncol=3 should means 2 data disks + 1 partition disk, so you only get around 120GB space usable, and that's what you got on the screen.
Havn't use VxVM for 5 years, forgive me if I'm wrong.
Cheers,
Achech
What kind of system you are using? CPU type?
Do you have any additional software installed (e.g. Veritas filesystems (vxfs))?
The mount command default is using ufs for disk(hsfs for cdrom), unless you choose "-F" option.
The ext2 is belong to Linux system, not supported on Sol9. If you try...
It means at least one of the configuration files had wrong information inside.
The sys-unconfig will clear all of them, and let you re-create them step-by-step through the setup procedures.

You can install the HP Jetadmin tool on your Sun box.
Go to HP's website, and looking for "SOLe118.PKG", it's very easy to setup and use, and you can have full functions for your printer.
