i hope you got a 98 installtion CD disk? a restore cd or bootup disk or in the floopy wont cut it.

is this a slave? or did you just install 98 windows on it and its a master os?

is this after a upgrade to xp from 98 or me, if so this is commen.

i have had a bad expearince with WD harddrive it would not parition at all, some have bios inside the dam thing, i had to use this bootup disk to get me out of that mess. http://www.min.net/%7Ejsjr/Web2/ubd/menu.htm

download this ME super boot format partion floppy http://www.min.net/%7Ejsjr/Web2/ubd/menu.htm now then if it still doesn't recongnize it your motherboard needs a new bios flash to read that larger harddrive you did say its 4/5 years old back then they only could read about a 8 gig..

oh if you full installed with xp NTSF you can't maxblast it , it only formats fat 32 or 16. now if it is ntsf format then you have to put it in a machine with xp or 2000 windows as a slave it can only reformat ntsf.
