I have the same phone lockup problem, the current software in the system is NT7B66CU, my distributor cannot get the NT7B66DT software and has sent me NT7B66CC software. Does anyone know of any issues with the N7B66CC?
They are 4 wire phones. Although the second pair is normally not needed. You can provide local 24vdc to this pair if you have an exceptionally long cable run and need local power for the phone to work. As I said, very rarely needed.
Cable pair untwist could lead you to assume that as long as each individual pair is twisted then the length of unsheathed cable pairs does not matter.......WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The sheath plays a very important role keeping the individual pairs correctly alligned with one another. Keep cable...
You probably read that it had to be terminated within a certain distance from the building entry point. This is a grounding requirement for lightning strike purposes. After that requirement has been met you can run it anywhere you want, however, it is messy to work with and more expensive so...
Stranded CAT 5 cable is for patch cables, solid CAT 5 is for wiring runs, it is usually not necessary to make extremely long patch cables so footage markers are not needed.
If you have additional spare strands in your fiber cable you can swap a strand at both ends, there is no twisting or anything with fiber, just make sure that transmit at one end goes to receive at the other and vice versa.
Re-run the cable and charge it to the people who damaged the cable. Any other "quick fix" will likely cause grief and end up costing much more in the long run.
For the price of fiber optic cable nowadays, I would run a piece of 6 strand fiber and put a couple of fiber to 100baseT converters on my hubs, that way you will be sure to have no interference.
