Has anyone else encountered this file. It is connected with the hacktool.rootkit virus. The file is located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ You cannot delete it. Norton detects it but when tring to delete, says access denied. The O/S is 2000PRo.

Bcastner, Thanks for the tip. I finally got it to work by doing part of the instructions you posted. Turns out it was a printer upgrade that was on the network. The old printer was installed on the machine. Had to go into the registry and remove all the drivers associated to that printer...
Have done virus update and scan and came up clean. Now when I try to open the printer folder, the machine freezes and I have to restart the machine. Strange??
Windows 2000, try to open the printers folder in the control panel and it won't respond. Have to control alt delete and end the process. Can't do anything. Any Ideas??
Right click on the properties of the LAN Connection and go to properties. Click the configure button for the network card and check the Link speed & Duplex. By default it is at Auto Detect. Make a change and test.
