I have just installed 2k pro on an oldish laptop ,
all good apart from the the shutdown it doesn't power off , i know this is an acpi thing which i have now spotted disabled in the bios , question is the o/s is on the laptop now , is there a regedit or something that will allow me to enable...

When you install XP for the first time it goes through a setup process ie how can i connect to the internet etc ,
well it plays like this background sound thats quite easy on the hear while setting up the bits and bobs , anyone know where that sound is stored or what microsoft call it ?
the engineers i saw using this app were BT people in the uk know who they are , (scum of the earth ) only joking some of them do have hearts , clearly this is an in house app and i was just wondering if anyone else had seen it or maybe even used it ?
the basic horid gray buttons and splash screen before it loads , very good app but clearly a basic in house developed app with out any more work done than required
anyone seen what there engineers use to test wan circuits
i have seen two engineers use a custom app that allows you to send 10 50 or 100 Mb file , and logs the results of the transfer to calculate the speed etc
any ideas , does anyone have or use this sort of thing ?
I have seen BT use a custom made app looks very vb like
to test our circuits they simpaly enter the address of the other engineers laptop both connect to each other and then can run network tests like transfer a 10 50 or 100 Mb file which then shows stats of the speed peeks etc

i have been playing with the outlook forms but with no success , one of two ways would do it for me , either a html form that allows java inside it , or a vb form but im not expert and cant get the code to work right

and now im able to access the allied being that the fiber to copper cisco is up i can see why
the allied was set to 1000 full - in other words negioation was turned off at one end , both ends have to be enabled for negioation to work
i have a cisco 3500 and the fibre interface wont come up i have issued the no shut
if i fibre cable from a 3500 to a 3500 it comes up
if i fibre an allied to allied the fibers come up
but if i fiber from allied to the cisco it wont come up
have tried swapping tx and rx around
any ideas...
