IP Phones Codes to Set or View Configuration by nzschooltech
Posted: 27 Oct 09

These codes will allow you to set or view the configuration of 46xx, 56xx or 16xx Avaya IP phones. If you don't use DHCP then you need to manually configure your phones to connect to the IP Office system. The steps vary somewhat among different phone models but they start with pressing a specific key, entering a numeric code and pressing # to end the code.

Usually the first key you press is either HOLD or MUTE. The codes you can enter after that are
73738 (R E S E T) - use to change the phone configuration.
25327 (C L E A R) - unsure how similar to or different from RESET.
8439 (V I E W) - view the current settings including phone model and serial number.
564633 (L O G O F F) - change the extension number and/or password.

Specific instructions for RESET:
You will get these prompts (56xx example). The information for each prompt is as follows:
Phone=  -static IP address of this phone.
CallSv= -IP Office system server IP address
Router= - Same as CallSV in most cases.
Mask=   - Subnet mask for the IP address shown. You should always accept the default setting (See comment below).
FileSv=  - Address of the TFTP server where the phone can download the configuration files. Note that some models can use HTTP instead.
802.1Q= - usually auto, set whether you use this setting
VLAN ID= - enter something if you use a VLAN.
Save new values? Press # to save.

Specific instructions for LOGOOFF:

Ext= - enter the extension number for this phone
Password= - enter a password if you need to.

When entering IP addresses press * to enter the period between each octet. For all entries press # to finish the entry. On a 56xx phone pressing SPEAKER backspaces on the current entry.
