Pin outs for console port of older 1900 switches? by infovein
Posted: 11 Apr 01

The older 1900 switches, ie the WS-C1900, have an older console port that does not use the rollover cable.  Most people who try to connect to the console managmenet portion of these switches will recieve modem strings on their terminal like so: ATQ0H0

The solution is to make the following cable:

- Both ends DB9
- Gender on both ends would be female
Here are the correct pinouts:

1,6   -   4
2     -   3
3     -   2
4     -   1,6
5     -   5
7,8   -   7
9     -   open

As you can see some of the pins are jumpered, ie 1,6 - 4

It took me a little while to finally find the correct cable for these old switches.  This should get anyone else who has an older switch like this going in no time.
