How to

Turn off "Curly" Quotes by Garridon
Posted: 4 Nov 03

Word is automatically set by default to use "curly" or "smart" quotes.  However, these quotes do not convert well in other programs like email or PDF files.  To turn them off:

Select TOOLS>AUTOCORRECT.  Click the AUTOFORMAT AS YOU TYPE tab.  In the Replace As You Type section, deselect Straight Quotes With Smart Quotes.

Click the AUTOFORMAT tab.  In the Replace section, deselect Straight Quotes with Smart Quotes.  Click the OK button.
