Fixing/opening corrupt files

How can I open/fix a corrupt PM6.5 file? by CindyBowman
Posted: 29 Jul 02

If you've tried everything possible to fix the file, and still cannot open it, you can do a workaround. If you know that the problem lies with text and not graphics, you can use the place command to put the text into a new document. But, Pagemaker 6.5 does not come with a Story Import Filter that lets you import text from a 6.5 document - only older versions. Go to Adobe's website, then to Pagemaker Downloads. Download the appropriate filter for your system (it's free) to your drive and follow the instructions for installation. Open a new document (or an older version of the same document) and place the text you need from the corrupted document.
