Working with unicode and serialization with FDK

Hi everyone !
I've got 2 questions:

1. How could i get the unicode representation of text node with FDK API, if it possible at all ??? I've tryed F_ApiGetText function bun everything i've got is the array of unsigned characters, and special symbols such as "trademark symbol" placed into one byte - it's not good...

2. Could i save the part of the document (some element range, not whole document) to some file ???
