(This is a reprint of a question I posted a few weeks ago in hardware and I'm hoping to get the advice on it that I was looking for)
------------------------------------

Win98SE

Although everything works normally, after installing the drivers for a logitech mouse because the scroll wheel didn't work with the native Win drivers, I have to close an error box superimposed on the desktop before I can proceed. Small hassle, but I'd like to learn what this means and how to fix it if someone can assist.

It reads: The EVENTEX.DLL file is linked to missing export COMNCTR.DLL:?SetValueData@CRegEnry@@QAEJABVCString@@ABV2@@Z.

Am I suppossed to set this value in the reg ? I'm not real experienced messing in the registry if this is what this box is telling me) but I know to back it up before messing and how to get into it via regedit, but that's about it.

Any advice or explanations on what this means will be appreciated.

It seems that it's saying that the logitech drivers removed or corrupted the Comnctr.dll. (?)

find thost two logitech files on the HDD and if they are i the SYSTEM folder - do this;
Start > Run (press enter after each)
regsvr32 /i Eventex.dll
regsvr32 /i Comnctr.dll
answer yes to the prompts

if errors arise post back, and find those files and Rename the ext to Eventex.old and Comnctr.old and reboot - see what happens.
Give us folder location of those files.
Start > Settings > Folder Options > View tab (tick)"Show All FIles" (untick) "hide extensions for known file types".

ttyu, thx for the reply

while waiting for some help, i reloaded the drivers from
the Logitech Website and that did the trick and the box doesn't appear anymore
