Hello,

I am a network administrator that is trying to test SP2 before deploying it across my network. When I install SP2 on my machine (part of a Windows 2000 Active Directory), I lose my network connectivity. I am able to log into the network, but after a few minutes, my connection drops and I am unable to regain it or renew an IP address. I disabled the WinXP firewall, but had no luck getting results....same problem still exits. I am using a 3Com 3c990 ethernet card. If I remove SP2, the problem goes away and all is well. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Doesn't seem to be any help for me there.

Still having the problem, it is like the network connection just times out. It still shows it is connected, but no traffic is passing thru. I have no firewall or other filtering software on the machine, and I have disabled the anti-virus software, still with no luck.

Have you stopped the firewall service.?

Also there is tab on some systems to allow the NIC card to sleep.

Mike

I am experiencing the same thing and haven't found an answer quite yet (still searching)...

Anyone else have it? I'd be tempted to buy you dinner!!

OK, I just text chatted with MS support regarding Hotfix 884020 found at

and according to them it will be the fix needed. (We'll see...)

But, it won't be available for a week or two and they'll e-mail it when it's ready. So if you need it, you may want to get on their mailing list to receive it.
