Would appreciate links to internet whitepapers or articles discussing why UNIX security is better than Microsoft security in operating systems.

However, from the way you phrase your question, it sounds like you are looking for biased output in favour of Unix type systems.  I would also look for security papers dealing with both sides of the fence and draw your own conclusions.

Unix is not more secure - they both are insecure when not properly configured
