Postfix basic configuration

Hi,

When installing Postfix on my gentoo system and configuring it using the "postfix basic configuration" from the official website, things don't seem to work out.
When telnetting to that postfixdaemon on port 25 i get a connection but no smtp greeting and it doesn't seem to accept mail commands such as:
helo
mail from:blah@blah.bet
rcpt to:blablabla@fubar.local

etc, etc?

can anyone help me out?

Try looking in your log file and tell us if there's anything there.
